Yes, in God's back yard

main image

From Eddie McCoven, church staff member:

Through our building project "God's Vision, Nuestra Misión", we discovered a way to help with the growing housing issue in San Diego.  We answered God's call to not just to build a new Fellowship Hall, but to also build affordable housing on church property.

Turns out, we're not the only group of people who had that idea.  A group of community leaders was also looking into ways faith communities, like ours, could help ease the housing crunch. This group's campaign is called "Yes, in God's back yard."

While we still have considerable time and city approvals to go through, our hope is to be able to offer some San Diegans a low cost roof over their head. In fact, our project could be the prototype of the "Yes, in God's back yard" initiative.

In the meantime, our efforts, and that of YIGBY, caught the attention of local news outlets.

You can find out more information about the entire Building Project on the Building Project page, which includes links to plans and renderings.

We encourage all of you to pray for our Building Project, that everything will go smoothly and according to plan, and that ultimately, God's will be done. Another way that you can help is to make a financial donation to the Building Fund.

And feel free to contact the church office with any questions.

Music for a cause

From Eddie McCoven, church staff member:

The Transforming Carazones Concert happened Saturday, May 19th. We enjoyed musical offerings by our own Eliazim, as well as from Pastor Nate's new EP.

We also heard music and testimony from rapper F-CER (with assistance from DJ Joker),  who shared with us the move of the Holy Spirit in his life and how he works to reach others with his music.

We also shared some great food as a part of the fundraiser, thanks to Jorge and Elena.

We raised $1,400 from the event, and it was split evenly between Community Christian Services Agency (CCSA) here in San Diego, and with a Lutheran School in Haiti.

More than 100 people attended the bilingual, multicultural event.
