From Eddie McCoven, church staff member:

We gathered for a brief Blessing of the Animals observance out on the front lawn of the church campus.

Our gathering reminds us of St. Frances of Assisi, who taught of giving thanks to God for all creation, especially our animal companions.

St. Francis is also considered the author of a common prayer Christians say for peace.

Taking on faith, one day at a time

In today’s world it can be difficult to find a foundation grounded in what you believe in, especially in a rapid paced pop culture that tells our young people to conform to negative ideals.

Yet our ninth grader is standing up for our shared eternal truths that he knows are good, right and necessary. On October 27, Chase Dunlavey will renew the promise made in his baptism, say yes to God, and publicly state his faith in the historic words
of the Apostles’ Creed.

In Holy Baptism God claims us by pouring the Holy Spirit upon us. We are then marked by the cross of Christ forever.

In the Affirmation of Baptism worship, Chase will take responsibility to continue to grow in faith and discipleship as God’s child.

We welcome Chase as he becomes a member of Clairemont Lutheran Church, joining with us in the mission of our congregation. God has blessed him, and we congratulate him on this milestone in his faith journey.
