Youth Music & Drama Program
Clairemont Lutheran Church offers three choirs for ages 3 through high school, plus a special needs choir. All music instruction is FREE and open to any youth in the community. Children and their families do not need to be a member of the church.
The Cherub Choir (Ages 3-6) meets on Thursday evenings from 5:15-6:00. Cherubs receive a strong foundation in musical skills through fun, active games and songs. They perform in the Christmas pageant and spring musical, and sing in church about three times during the semester.
GLEE!(1st-5th grade) meets on Thursday evenings from 6:00-7:00. Singers receive expert instruction in vocal technique, music theory, sight singing, and music history in an active and fun class. In addition to singing in church about once a month, children perform in 3 fully staged and costumed musical per year, travel to festivals, and sing for outreach performances at retirement homes.
Esperanza Youth Choir (6th grade-high school) is an award-winning youth choir dedicated to outreach and community service. The choir meets on Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:00.
In addition to the occasional singing for Sunday morning worship gatherings, the children’s and youth choirs perform in four staged, costumed musicals each year including a Christmas production, which they take on the road to area retirement homes in December. The youth choir also sings in the annual Choristers Guild Choir Festival, and travels out of town to festivals and competitions.
Rise & Shine Choir is for teens and young adults with special needs. Rehearsals are Sundays at 1:00 p.m., and the group often sings for Sunday morning worship and performs in musicals at different times of the year.
