Spiritual growth in Lent

main image

Our Wednesday Noon Lenten worship gatherings began with Ash Wednesday.

Each Wednesday we gather in our sanctuary for this meditative worship at noon. Our time together will feature traditional Lenten hymns and Holy Communion. Following worship we will continue with the book discussion.

On Wednesday evening we gather at 6:00 for a light soup supper, with vespers worship following at 6:30, and the book discussion group at 7:00.

Our evening worship will use the Holden Evening Prayer liturgy with candle lighting. The message will be the same as the noon service. Bring a friend to experience the quiet inspiration of Lenten discipline.

This Lenten season we are going on a journey to discover more fully who God created us to be. “Seven wonders of the Word” will challenge us to experience the power of God’s Word in our life and in our world. It will expand your awareness of what God is saying and doing. It will also encourage you to deepen your prayer life as you relate the power of God’s Word to your personal experience.

In addition to the daily reading time our worship theme will come from the book as well. Then after worship we will have a discussion time to explore what was particularly meaningful or challenging for us. This time will be offered following our Lenten worship on both Wednesday afternoon and evening. Books are available in the church office or on the patio Sunday Mornings. The cost is $10.

Worship Committee seeking new chairperson

The Worship Committee is seeking a volunteer chairperson as well as additional members to help lead our conversation and steer our work on worship gatherings in our faith community.

Over the past year and a half, the committee has, with the help of feedback and suggestions from attendees, implemented changes in our 10:00 a.m. worship hour, creating what is now known as our Celebration Worship, a blended and casual worship time.
With declining attendance at our two English language worship gatherings, now is the time to prayerfully consider where God is calling us in our corporate worship, and to engage in dialogue on what can be done to increase our attendance and make our congregation a more welcoming and inviting place to worship our LORD.
