Welcome  to Clairemont Lutheran Church

This website is designed to provide you with information about the many ministries of Clairemont Lutheran Church.  Since 1954, Clairemont Lutheran Church has been a community of faith in San Diego's Clairemont neighborhood and surrounding areas.  Of the many programs that Clairemont Lutheran offers, we gather first and foremost in worship and celebration of the love of Jesus Christ- a love shared with all people.  We take pride in outstanding programs in music, education and children, youth and adult social ministries.  Clairemont Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Pacifica Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  You are invited to take a moment to explore what Clairemont Lutheran Church has to offer.  If you would like to learn more about Lutheranism as a denomination, please click here.  Otherwise, the navigation buttons above will direct you to information about the many and various ways we gather together as people of God, living the good news of Jesus Christ.

Clairemont Lutheran Church at a glance

Worship is celebrated every Sunday at four services.  The 8:00 and 10:15 a.m. services are of a liturgical format from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's recent hymnal Evangelical Lutheran Worship.  The 9:15 a.m. worship service is called Celebration of Joy and is more informal than 8:00 and 10:15.  The 11:30 a.m. worship is conducted in Spanish and also follows the traditional liturgy.  Holy Communion is celebrated weekly at the 9:15, 10:15 and 11:30 services and twice monthly at the 8:00 service (first and third Sundays).

Education opportunities are provided in a variety of formats.  Sunday School if offered for all ages, pre-school through adult.  Bible studies are held throughout the week and educational forums are offered on a regular basis.  Clairemont Lutheran Church is also participating in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Book of Faith initiative.

Social Outreach is critical as Clairemont Lutheran Church is an urban congregation helping to serve the many needs of America's eighth largest city.  In addition to participating in local agencies, Clairemont Lutheran is also active in border concerns ministries as well as community projects with our neighbor to the south, Tijuana BC Mexico.

Pastoral Care is provided to anyone in need.  Our ministry staff is committed to both nurturing families and individuals in times of crisis as well as providing leadership in worship and other areas of Clairemont's ministry.  Although we have a larger ministry staff than most congregations, we still celebrate and embrace the leadership gifts that all members of Clairemont Lutheran Church have to offer.

Fellowship gatherings are frequent at Clairemont Lutheran Church.  Whether it is gathering for coffee on the patio on Sunday mornings between services or simply stopping by the office to visit with the staff, we know that building up relationships with one another is necessary for our lives of faith.  We are pleased to offer many opportunities to gather together at Clairemont Lutheran Church, to share stories and laughs with one another.

You are invited to join us as we journey together in faith.  We would be happy to answer any questions you may have, the contact page has information on how to reach us for information on any of the ministries profiled in this website.  We are grateful that you have taken this time to enjoy our website.

Mission Statement.  Clairemont Lutheran Church is a community of faith united in Word and Sacrament, building faith by inviting, welcoming, forgiving, accepting, healing and praying for all God's people.
