Social Outreach Ministry at Clairemont Lutheran

Service within our neighborhood and throughout the world is part of the call of Jesus Christ as well as of our baptismal identity at Clairemont Lutheran Church.  Social outreach ministries have been a foundational part of Clairemont's ministry for generations, and we continue to do what we can to help those in need and to open the doors to our facilities for several community and regional groups and ministries.  Here is a sampling of what we do here at Clairemont Lutheran Church.

Sandwich Ministry.  Volunteers gather in our kitchen on Thursday mornings to prepare sandwiches for the San Diego homeless.  Depending on what is donated on a particular week, sandwich ministry sometimes prepares enough to feed hundreds.

Interfaith Shelter Network.  In January Clairemont Lutheran Church proudly hosts the Interfaith Shelter, serving families in our neighborhood through Interfaith Shelter System, a city-wide program with rotating shelters throughout the city.  In collaboration with other local congregations, Clairemont members also volunteer to prepare meals for the residents.  More information on Interfaith Shelter Network can be found here.

Community Christian Service Agency.  For many years, Clairemont Lutheran Church has supported CCSA, the Community Christian Service Agency of Clairemont and Pacific Beach.  CCSA serves a variety of individuals and families in numerous ways.  Click here for more information on CCSA.

Border Concerns Ministry.  Members of Clairemont Lutheran Church regularly travel to Tijuana BC Mexico to support several local ministries south of the border.  These ministries include the Casa de Migrantes, serving the needs of recently deported migrants from the United States,

Lutheran Social Services Senior Companion Program.  This program, based at Clairemont Lutheran's campus, is older adults helping other older adults live independently.  They are part of Lutheran Social Services of Southern California, more information can be found here.

Support Groups.  Clairemont Lutheran Church plays host to meetings of several support groups, please contact the church office for more information.
